Join us at the Poetry Society to celebrate the achievements of three recent PSA Chapbook Fellowship winners. Lauren Aliza Green ('22), Emily Lee Luan ('20), and Margaret Ray ('21) will read from their prizewinning books.
Lauren Aliza Green’s poetry and short fiction have appeared in Conjunctions, Glimmer Train, American Short Fiction, Ninth Letter, and Joyland, among other publications. Her writing has received support from the Carson McCullers Center, the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, and the Kenyon Review Workshop. Her chapbook A Great Dark House won the Poetry Society of America's Chapbook Fellowship Contest. She holds a BA from Columbia University and an MFA from the Michener Center for Writers.
Emily Lee Luan is the author of 回 / Return (April 2023), a winner of the Nightboat Poetry Prize, and I Watch the Boughs, selected by Gabrielle Calvocoressi for a Poetry Society of America Chapbook Fellowship. A former Margins Fellow at the Asian American Writers’ Workshop and the recipient of a Pushcart Prize, her work has appeared in The Best American Poetry 2021, Best New Poets 2019, American Poetry Review, and elsewhere. She holds an MFA from Rutgers University–Newark.
Margaret Ray grew up in Gainesville, Florida. She is the author of Good Grief, The Ground (winner of the A. Poulin Jr. Poetry Prize selected by Stephanie Burt) and the chapbook Superstitions of the Mid-Atlantic (selected by Jericho Brown for the 2020 Poetry Society of America Chapbook Fellowship Prize). Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Best New Poets 2021, The Nation, Threepenny Review, Narrative, and elsewhere. A winner of the Third Coast Poetry Prize and shortlisted for the Montreal International Poetry Prize, she holds an MFA from Warren Wilson College and teaches in New Jersey.
